Learning Activity

Students use scientific notation † to understand, represent and compare very large and small numbers. They use fractions, decimals and percents interchangeably, and recall square numbers to 144 and their square roots. Students solve problems that involve proportions and whole numbers, fractions, decimals, integers and exponents.

This Learning Activity is divided into three sections. Adults should guide children through it in the following order:
  1. Minds On: Introduces the learning concepts to be explored in the Learning Activity.
  2. Action: Offers a focused activity to explore the content and discover key concepts.
  3. Consolidation: Provides students with an opportunity to deepen understanding and reflect on learning.
